My view

2 min read
I think I stand out a little bit. I never get inspired by other peoples work. Its their own perception of a object, feeling or atmosphere. Not my own. So why would I try to recreate or recapture something through someone else's eyes and interpretations when I can do it by myself.

I can appreciate the work, find it interesting and the technique that is put in the work but it never makes me do something of myself based directly on it, "copy" but in my own way or use someone's work as a reference. I find it very unsatisfying.

What inspires me is a object, feeling or atmosphere. Either based on what I have seen/see at the moment or based on a presumption of it. Many time it comes when Im right there on the spot. I see it and I want to put a emotion, atmosphere, story in the object of capture in the best way I can.

I believe its the raw object, feeling or atmosphere that should be the true inspiration, not someone else's capture of it. In many ways it comes down to the mindset one have. The end result of a work maybe will not differ much from someone who got inspired by someone else's work but its the process that will be very enriching for ones creative soul from my personal experience.

In the end of the day you rely only on your own impressions, intuition, creativity and skill.

It something that have been on my mind several times and something a usually don't put in the description of my photos. None of my images have been heavily modified beside the color/light/contrast. The most modification I have made was to takeaway dust spots.

It has been for very long time that I haven't touched my camera and been on deviantART. Not duo lack of inspiration or ideas, but duo to drive, energy and many other things that were on my mind. Today I took my camera out and decided to take my first proper self-portrait(s).

Coming closer

I started to experiment with reverse lenses in macro photography this past days. Got myself a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AI today in mint condition for no penny and using it as a reverse lens together with Jupiter-9, a great M42 lens btw, with very good results.

It will be fun. :)
